Madben is a French techno producer born in the north of France, shaped by DIY culture and warehouse parties. Based in Lille during his early years, he has been living techno since the 1990s. At that time, he followed the emerging scene through flyers found in local record shops. Meanwhile, with friends, he regularly crossed the Belgian border. Clubs and parties such as Fuse in Brussels, Kozzmozz events in Ghent, and illegal raves in abandoned factories in Kortrijk became essential places to discover the raw sounds of techno.
Soon after, Madben joined forces with other enthusiasts to organize events in Lille and nearby cities. At the same time, he absorbed the influence of artists like Dave Clarke, Speedy J, Jeff Mills, and Green Velvet. As a result, Benjamin officially launched his DJ career. Sharing Technics MKII turntables with friends, he spent countless hours mixing Detroit-influenced records. Eventually, music production became a natural evolution of his journey through club culture.
In 2010, Madben invested his savings in a simple home studio. It included speakers, a MIDI keyboard, and a computer running Reason and Ableton. Inspired by labels such as Purpose Maker, Blueprint, and Tresor, he refined his sound and began uploading tracks to SoundCloud. Encouraged by friends, he sent demos to Laurent Garnier, who quickly responded by playing one of his tracks on the radio show It Is What It Is on Le Mouv. Consequently, Madben’s name started gaining serious recognition. Shortly after, he collaborated with the iconic French festival Astropolis.
After moving to Paris in 2012, Madben built a hybrid studio combining vintage and modern machines. Fully immersed in techno, he worked both as a DJ and live performer while preparing his debut album. Frequence(s) was released in 2018 on Astropolis Records. The album defined his light-and-dark techno identity and featured collaborations with Laurent Garnier, Manu Le Malin, and Rebeka Warrior.
Thanks to this release, Madben entered the European festival and club circuit. Soon after, Maceo Plex welcomed him into the Ellum Audio family. As a result, Madben performed in major venues such as Berghain, Printworks London, Awakenings, De Marktkantine, and Input Barcelona. Trunkline Live Project and Recent Releases At the end of 2024, Madben released a debut album with his side project Trunkline on Skryptom Records. This project reflects their pure hardware live act, performed without computers, using only synths and drum machines alongside Yann Lean. Later on, Madben released the album Troisième Sens on Ellum Audio. This record focuses on sound design and storytelling while maintaining strong dancefloor impact. Following this release, he delivered EPs and remixes on Obscura, Mobilee, Mizi Muzik, EPM Music, and Tomorrowland’s Core label. To close 2025, Madben released the Dark Shaman EP on Barcelona-based DSK Records.
Whether through albums or DJ sets, Madben’s approach remains consistent. His techno tells a story while keeping the club moving. It avoids clichés, respects underground codes, and reflects a deep production intelligence built over decades. A little Mad. A lot of Ben.
