Dino Lenny, born to Italian parents in London, has for over 30 years originated a production and DJing style that reflects his dual nationality – innovative, imaginative, and trailblazing. Dino’s debut release, “Cocaine,” was released in 1991 on the iconic Neapolitan Flying Records. It quickly became a signature anthem on the burgeoning house music scenes that were migrating out of both Italy and the UK via Ibiza.
Teenage Years and First Releases
Dino began DJing as a teenager, presenting shows on his local radio station in Cassino. Local club shows soon followed with summer residencies in Malta. In 1994, Dino released “No More Mind Games” as B.O.D, a seminal early progressive production on UMM Records. In 1995, Dino moved to London and set up his studio on Kings Road in Chelsea. “White Horses,” released on the recently launched Positiva imprint, soon followed, as well as remixes of Underworld, INXS, Missy Elliot, and Timbaland. In addition to a string of releases with Southern Fried, Azuli, and Yoshitoshi, Dino also found time to collaborate with a diverse array of artists including Mark Knight, Scissor Sisters, Wu-Tang Clan, and Madonna. Ever the pioneer, Dino was already providing the vocals on many of these productions.
Return to Cassino and Label Launch
With a move back to Cassino in 2014 and the launch of his label Fine Human, Dino began collaborating with internationally renowned labels such as Maceo Plex’s Ellum Audio, Innervisions, Damian Lazarus’s Crosstown Rebels, Correspondant, and Solomun’s Diynamic. Notable releases include 2015’s trio on Ellum Audio – “It’s Saturday,” “Living in a Song,” and “This Is a Love Song.”
Notable Collaborations and Remixes
In 2016, a joint remix with Seth Troxler of Dino’s own Doorly collab “The Magic Room” was released for Seth’s Play It Say It label. That same year, Dino released on Innervisions “A Certain Distance” with a rework from label boss Dixon. Berlin-based Correspondant followed this run of releases with “Suddenly,” co-written with Fiberroot. In 2017, iconic French producer Agoria tapped Dino for the “Shoot Me To The Sky” EP for his Sapiens label. This featured a Maceo Plex remix of the title track alongside Agoria’s retouch of “This Time We Take It Easy.”
In 2019, Dino collaborated with ARTBAT on “Don’t Bring Me Down” for Solomun’s Diynamic label. He also joined Tale Of Us label Afterlife for his ARTBAT collab “Fading” on Tale Of Us’s Unity Pt. 2 album. Tale Of Us also included Dino’s track “Breathe” on their 2022 Unity Pt. 3 compilation. Dino rounded off 2019 with “Keep Changing Basslines,” which Sven Vath selected for his end-of-year Cocoon compilation.
Radio Show and Recent Projects
In January 2021, Dino returned to his radio roots with the “Core” radio show. This show is an audio extension of Tomorrowland’s “alternative electronic” Core stage where Dino has been a recurring guest since its launch. Featured guests on Core radio have been luminaries such as Sven Vath, Adam Beyer, Nina Kraviz, Ellen Allien, DJ Tennis, Jimi Jules, Trikk, and Ame.
In 2022, Dino released “Our Space,” a collaboration with ARTBAT on Upperground. In 2023, legendary Belgium label R&S welcomed Dino for two releases: the innovative “Did This” and the future classic “Washington Street.” Very exciting times for Dino Lenny!
